We had a great time visiting the Digital Anatomy Lab today.  The different high-tech equipment allowed us to see three dimensional figures of the human body and learn about its organisation.  We also had a chance to hold the preserved organs of a human being and have a closer look at them!  It was surely an unforgettable experience and this will be greatly beneficial to all of us who are taking Biology.

We had a lesson about normativity and architecture of human body taught by Professor Freedom. We were a bit confused at the beginning about the topic and all of us did all the tasks wrong. After the lecture, we understood that everyone has their own 'function', and we are more determined to perform our 'functions' well in the future and make an impact on the world with our actions. Moreover, we learnt about norms and the consequences of violating them. It was a fun and knowledgeable lesson that we all learnt a lot after that. We were doing our own self reflections and sending it to our professor for further comments in order for us to improve. We hope everyone can succeed in performing their 'functions' well in the future.

We visited the Digital Anatomy Laboratory and learnt about clinical anatomy. We first joined a lecture conducted by a professor, introducing the basic information about anatomy and the technologies used to teach students in Stanford. After the briefing, we tried out using the innovative technology that showed structures of the body digitally. Many students learnt how to deal with different cases using this way of learning. We then went to the dissection lab and had a glimpse of real human organs. We have already learnt some of them in Biology lessons so this helped us to refresh our memories. Lastly we looked at some photos of wax models of humans and acquired more knowledge of our bodies, this activity was very informative, inspiring and it is definitely an experience that we will never forget.

In the afternoon, we had our first lesson with Professor Freedom which is a lesson about Normativity. This is a brand new topic that talks about what we "ought" to do and how we should value things. During the lesson, we thought a lot about the topic and we have gained a lot from it. We are now able to develop our independence and confidence. Moreover, we thought about how we should "function" in the world as being a human being. This lesson is so inspiring and adorable, we enjoyed it very much. :D

In the morning, we had an anatomy tour in the medical science building. We first had a brief introduction about clinical anatomy in which we learnt about the purpose and history of human clinical anatomy. We had a brief overview on the advanced technology used to develop the science of anatomy. Then, we had a talk and hands- on experience on preserved humans organs. We held and touched the preserved organs! It was a very special experience for us and we'll definitely remember it for life. Then we watched a video on waxed models. We had a more in-depth discussion about the different organs and nerves. Later, we observed the human body on a large digital screen. We could cut through the body and have a closer look inside. We also investigated some cases and diagnosed the problems the patients had. It was an interesting experience. We could see the organs very clearly.

After lunch, we had lessons on leadership. We have learnt to make power poses to energise ourselves. We have also made a human pyramid, body knots, mime, visualisation, and reflective listening.  After each activity, we made our own reflection and shared to others how we felt during the activities. From this, we have learnt how to resolve conflict and treat relationships. These activities also help us to gain lots of skills and opportunities on becoming a leader. We also learnt when to voice out our thoughts and when to step back and truly listen in order to understand the matter from another perspective which is crucial for our future.

First we visited the school of medicine. The building is huge and beautiful, so we took lots of group photos there. We looked and touched different preserved organs in the anatomy lab, it allowed us to review what we learnt in the past year in Biology. Since we were most familiar with the structures of the heart, we made an impression on the instructor. Then we looked at pictures of wax models of human body. They were made in the 18th century and surprisingly they were made with a great deal of details and accuracy. Also there was a digital device which allowed us to dissect samples of human body virtually.
Then we attended a leadership class taught by Chloe Good. It was really interesting. We played many fun activities together and learned the qualities of being a leader. Reflective listening was taught and we think that this will be really useful in daily life when we have conflicts. Lastly we prepared for the multicultural day tomorrow and we hope it will be a success and people will enjoy the games that we have prepared.

Today we took a tour around the digital anatomy lab here at Stanford University. We learnt about the wide variety of resources Stanford University has to offer, and were shown photos of wax models, preserved human organs etc. It was touching to learn that many generous souls donated their bodies for educational purposes. It was also fascinating to see actual organs we have in our body. We got to refresh our knowledge on Human Biology too! We were amazed by how technology was helpful even in surgical processes and demonstration of concepts. Humans have definitely come a long way since the wax models were used.

In the afternoon, we had a lesson on Artificial Intelligence. We were given a brief lecture on Artificial Intelligence itself, and after that we had the chance to try out coding a smart chatbot. We learned about the capability of Artificial Intelligence in influencing our daily lives and the power it may hold in the present and the future. Programming is a complex language so it was quite tough to learn it in such a short amount of time. In spite of being difficult, it definitely sparked our interest to enhance our knowledge in this field!

We went to the anatomy lab and reviewed what we have learnt about human bodies in Biology. What's more? We even had the chance to touch the preserved human organs such as the brain and the heart! It was indeed a precious learning opportunity for us that we truly treasure. The lesson was inspiring and thoughtful, we all enjoyed it. Afterwards, we had a lesson on Artificial Intelligence. We learnt a lot about programming and how to control a chatbot. It was really nice and we are very happy to get the chance to learn about it.

After the dinner, we prepared for the multicultural exhibition that will be held tomorrow. Our group is doing a puppet show while we tell Chinese tales to the audience. We combined all the parts together just now and had a rehearsal. After all the hard work, the rehearsal worked out pretty well and we think we will continue to prepare for that tomorrow. We are really looking forward to the exhibition tomorrow:)

We took part in a lot of fun and interesting activities today.
First, we went to the Medical School of Stanford where we had the privilege to learn more about Anatomy. We even had the opportunity to analyze different real life cases of patients from the Stanford hospital. Moreover, we were able to touch a human heart, brain, knee, and muscles. It was a very enlightening and fantastic experience for all of us.
In addition, half of us had Leadership lessons, while the other half had Artificial Intelligence lessons. Through the leadership lessons, we learnt how to be confident in ourselves, and we discovered the tricks of becoming a successful leader. We also learnt how to co-operate with each other through solving challenging tasks. In the Artificial Intelligence lessons, we were able to explore more about computer programming. It was a very inspiring class and the professor really helped us through our difficulties in making a website.
Furthermore, we went to the Stanford Bookstore where we bought a lot of souvenirs, such as hoodies and T-shirts.
Lastly, we did a rehearsal for the Multi-cultural exhibition, which will be taken place tomorrow. Our group is part of the Chinese Calligraphy team. We really enjoyed writing Chinese Calligraphy, translating English names, and learning and presenting its history. We are looking forward to presenting it and we truly hope it will be a great success!

Firstly, we visited the digital anatomy lab.  We learnt how clinical anatomy works and we were inspired by how the people are willing to donate their bodies for medical uses. We had a go at the digital anatomy table which contains images of human bodies in detail. We were very impressed as it can help medical students to observe images of the human body when they don't have a human cadaver. We also touched some preserved body parts. We felt so surprised that they were kept so well and some of them were kept for over 20 years. We like the experience very much as it is very rare to see such advanced equipments in Hong Kong.

Then we attended a lesson about normativity and the architecture of human beings. We learnt what is normativity. After this class, we are more ready to grab good opportunities and reduce the time needed to make decisions. We hope to make good use all the opportunities that we encounter. One of us attended Artificial Intelligence lesson and she learnt about programming. She programmed an online automatic chat room. Most people think that programming is very boring. However it is very useful in life and it is applicable to everyone of us. We all enjoyed attending the classes and find them very useful to our lives.
