Yesterday we had the legal studies lesson in the morning. We experienced a mock trial. We had prepared for it for a long time the night before, then we rehearsed it in the morning. We first learned some basic knowledge about law and court in the US, then we had some time do the final preparation. Most of us in our group represents the plaintiff side. It was an overall successful trial as it was our first time joining the mock trial, and there were lots of laughter. We all have learnt a lot from that. We were very excited and wanted to try it again if opportunities arise.

After lunch, we had our Artificual Intelligent lesson which was about robots. We created a
chat bot and we learned to communicate with it through our computers. It was an interesting lesson as this was the first time we learnt about how AI was programmed. We were inspired by AI. We were very proud of the chat bot that we created on our own.
After the regular lessons, we had sports and art and
craft activities in the French House. Our group did henna, which is an
artificial tattoo. We also made the French bracelet and this is truly a great
experience. After dinner, we returned to French House and continued with the
discussion of global solution project. We were separated into groups according
to our duty and did the research separately. During the research we also asked
for other group's opinions so as to make our decision more perfect. It was
overall a quite successful meeting as we have completed a lot of things. 14 July 2017
In
the morning, we had 'leadership' lesson with Chloe. We learnt the three
fundamental stages of building leadership. The first one is dealing
with 'yourself'. We have to overcome our inner voice of fear such as being afraid to stand in front of people and voicing out our thoughts. The next
one was '1:1', which was a communication activity with one partner. We switched
partners and shared different experiences in the game. It was really
worthwhile and amazing, we seldom have time to share our inner feelings
to a person, it empowered me to be stronger and more confident. Besides, it was a great chance to know
more about my partner, creating a closer and tighter bond. The last one
was leading the group. We did a group activity called 'human knot'.
During the process of untying our knots, we learnt to lead, speak, yet
also to stop and listen to others, working out the best solution together.
The lesson was indeed fun and inspirational!
After
lunch, we had a lesson about visual design and thinking in our house.
We started off the lesson by choosing a word and thinking of words
consisting of the particular alphabets. The word we had was 'tames' and
we came up with words such as 'same' and 'mat'. We could even use words from
different languages and tilt and flip alphabets to produce other other
alphabets. This activity was a brain booster and we
thought of many words we never expected ourselves to think of. Next, we
were given a picture and had to describe what was in the picture without
determining the significance of their actions. We got to share our
opinions thoroughly. Then we categorised ideas and thought of stories
about the picture. Through this, we realised the importance of
organising information. Lastly, we designed flags for our respective
islands for the Global Project. We fully utilised our creativity and
imagination and tried to include patterns and designs which resemble and
represent different motifs and themes. It was really fun and inspiring
to see people making entirely different designs.
At
the cultural exhibition night, we had so much fun and met a lot of new
friends. Our group did the Chinese Zodiac Signs booth. I was pleased
with our performance as we could introduce the story which reveals the
legend behind the sequence, the meaning and representations
behind each animals, to non-Chinese such as the counsellors and the Brazilians. They showed interest in our introduction and the Chinese
culture. we were also surprised to find out that some foreigners know a lot
about the history and culture of China. Afterwards, the counsellors invited representatives from each country to introduce the culture of
their country. We learned a lot from the sharing of other countries, and
we were also pleased to have the chance to show our own culture. We had a
dance party at night. Though there was a crisis with the bees, we still enjoyed the party a lot. It was truly an unforgettable experience.

Today is finally the day we have long-awaited, the field trip to California's Great America! It is a theme park full of exciting rides such as roller coasters, it is similar to the Ocean Park in Hong Kong. We arrived at 9:30 am, then started walking around the park. We rode on some rides in the morning. We went on two roller coasters and a turbo dropping. All of those were very exciting. Although we had been lining up for rides for a long period of time, we still had a lot of fun. We screamed so loud when other people didn't even make a sound. Everyone in the park could probably hear us screaming. We went to the water park after lunch. First we played Didgaridoo Falls, where we sit on a giant buoy and slid down the slide. Today was very sunny and the water helped us to cool down a bit. After that, we tried various slides which were really thrilling too. Then, we had ice cream which is mouth watering. In the end, we tried Down Under Thunder which was very exciting and we got soaked. The Didgaridoo Falls is one of our favourite games. At first we were scared and nervous about it and had no guts to try it out but after experiencing it, we weren't anxious and afraid anymore. Not only did we have fun today, we also learnt to overcome our fear and to try out different things.
