In the morning we had a lesson about rhetoric. It teaches us how to effectively persuade others. Our teacher used persuading our parents to buy a pet puppy. We listed out reasons why we should buy a puppy, how a puppy brings benefits and many more. We can also use threats to persuade although it may not be useful at all times. Then we analysed news and advertisements. We used ethos, pathos and logos to analyse the sources and decided whether they are persuasive or not. Near the end of the lesson, we wrote down a question, a firm point we remember, and three useful points that we plan to use in our daily lives. The lesson was really helpful and I hope after I learning these skills, I can improve in my essays at school.

The second class that we had was mathematical logic and problem solving. Since most of our cohort had little interest in math, we decided to talk about problem solving. The topic that we talked about was cryptography. It was very interesting as we learnt about the basics of encryption and ways of keeping documents confidential to others. The questions that our teacher gave us was very hard and required a lot of logic and thinking out of the box. In the end we managed to solve 2 problems and they were very challenging. We also had activities where our group tried tye-dyeing t-shirts. It was really fun and is a new experience for most of us. We then had global solutions project meeting at french house where we all had great progress with our projects.
